(High-Level University Development Series Lecture No. 1108)
Lecture Title: Statistical aspects of analytic number theory
Lecturer: Dr. Chenkai Liang (University of Oxford)
Lecture Time: September 17, 2025, 15:00–16:00
Venue: Huiwen Building 2331
Abstract:
In this talk, we explore the distribution of arithmetic objects in analytic number theory, including prime numbers, coefficients of L-functions, and divisors. As these objects arise naturally, one may inquire whether they follow a well-known limiting distribution under suitable circumstances. We address some of these problems from both the Fourier-analytic perspective and the combinatorial perspective.
Lecturer’s Biography:
Dr. Chenkai Liang received his Ph.D. from the University of Montreal, Canada, and is currently a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Oxford, UK. His main research area is analytic number theory. He has published several papers in journals such as Forum Mathematicum and Bulletin of the London Mathematical Society.
All faculty and students are welcome to attend!
